In the late 1960s, Marshall McLuhan coined the phrase 'the medium is the message' to describe the effect that the medium of delivery has on the message received. As much as online instructors would like to describe the technology of online courses as 'transparent', this is not the case at present. The medium of delivery affects the learner's ability to absorb material, and it is often a limiting factor in the success of online learners. It is the goal of this module to ease the learning curve for the switch to a technology based classroom. | |
