Online learning environments (OLE) as described by Quitadamo, 2001, p.1) allow students to actively engage in critical dialogue and reflect on information in a way that facilitates knowledge construction and higher order thinking. In other words, they need to be "noisy learners", or learners who are visibly engaged with one another and with the generation of knowledge (Pratt, 2001, p.107). The promotion of this type of online culture requires a properly structured course of action. Participants in this learning environment must also be prepared to follow certain procedures in order to allow this culture to thrive. | |
