| Discuss the Importance of Critical Thinking Skills | ||
|
In a truly collaborative setting where dialogue and feedback is the norm, education is shifted from a teacher centered, lecture based, passive instruction to a learner centered, self-reflective, and active learning (Lan, 1999). Critical thinking skills are necessary in this type of learning environment. It is not just about giving answers, but asking questions as well. As Gene Kowch (2002) suggests in his activity suggestions page, "After you've responded initially to the discussion thread's tantalizing teaching question, toss in threads or questions that might make us really think about DL. Challenge us to think. Let's explore the material and new ideas together." |
