Damon Burton, 1983 has shown that people who use goal-setting effectively:

  • suffer less from stress and anxiety
  • concentrate better
  • show more self-confidence
  • perform better
  • happier with their performances

The acronym SMART should be the basis of your goal statement.

  • S - specific
  • M - measureable
  • A - action oriented
  • R - realistic
  • T - tangible
