Time tracking techniques allow you to analyze how much time is spent in what. The time we allocate to our family, leisure, school, work, and spiritual is different for everyone. Seeing the breakdown of these tasks in the form of data gives us a true understanding of what we can simplify, delete, or amalgamate in our daily routines.

The first step in time management is to keep track of the time you spend doing various activities. Be careful not to over-track your time. In other words, choose broad categories such as work, leisure, school, and family. Once you have mastered this, you can further breakdown your time on specific items you are trying to track (i.e, time spent on one course). Don't be too hard on yourself if you don't succeed at first. Time tracking is not necessarily a natural activity and can be difficult to do, as shown below:
