Planning 10 Career Planning Research 
Purpose: students will be able to complete a career plan research for two career choices (A and B choices), write a paper on it using proper citations (APA style), and present their findings.
Career Planning Research Guidelines:
- the completed assignment will have four sections for each of the two careers you will be researching:
- Inspiration - idea diagram and outline
- skills assessment
- completed - refer to personal inventories
- career research
- history
- 5 W's and How - this career started
- early job conditions
- major developments and changes in this occupation
over the years
- why is this job important, interesting, unusual, etc...?
- nature of work
- outline a typical working day
- what are the responsibilities of the employee?
- what tools, machinery, special skills are important
for this job?
- working conditions
- sitting / standing, active / inactive, risky / non-risky,
noisy / quiet, inside / outside, etc...
- regular hours, part-time / full-time
- union / nonunion /strikes
- education / training / qualifications
- where?
- how long?
- cost?
- location of school / institution
- personal qualities
- skills required
- employment advancement and outlook
- renumeration
- average wage
- commissions, overtime, special projects, bonuses,

- investigate three educational institutions
- go on virtual tour of the facility: visit classrooms,
research facilities, counseling centers, students centers;
look at the technologies available
- submit a one page report on:
- cost of program
- length of program
- entrance requirements (what course are needed in high school - grades 11 / 12)
- list of courses required for completion
- employment success rates for recent graduates
- transportation costs (car, carpooling, bus, biking,
walking)
- other application requirements (portfolio, work experience,
interviews)

- style (use of descriptive language / originality) - 10 marks

- spelling (each spelling mistake minus 2 marks) / grammar (each
grammatical mistake minus 2 marks) - 5 marks
- main ideas covered (depth and breadth of discussion of topic)-

- layout (include a title page, list of tables, list of figures,
page numbering, table of content, and outline) - 5 marks
- REMEMBER DO NOT PLAGIARIZE - cite your work using APA style and include a bibliography
